Low-key New Year for Dublin Chinese in ’09

CHINESE people in Ireland will celebrate the Lunar New Year later this month, ringing in the Year of the Ox and saying goodbye to the Year of the Rat.

However, Chinese New Year festivities will be scaled back in line with the recession that is gripping the country
Nevertheless, celebrations kick off on 23 January and will carry on until 1 February.
New Year’s Eve will be celebrated in Wolfe Tone Square, Dublin on Sunday 25 January, with the Chinese Art Performance Group showcasing Chinese acrobats, traditional Sichuan opera and Chinese ribbon dance.
