Swimming in Glory Part 6: Singing God’s Praise was the title of a sermon delivered by the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at the recent June Holy Ghost Service.

The service, which attracts crowds from all over the world to the church’s heartland of Nigeria, is also watched by worshippers around the globe on many different platforms.

Drawing from Psalms 34:1, Pastor EA Adeboye, said: “Why don’t you lift your hands to the most high God and bless His holy name, worship the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, praise the Almighty God, give Him glory, honour and adoration, bless Him, He is worthy to be praised.”

During the service, the general overseer prayed for positive life-changing experiences for worshippers.

“Tonight we are here just to praise you, Lord. Please accept our praise and accept us; before the sun rises tomorrow, every one of us will have a new song to sing. In Jesus’ mighty name we have prayed,” he added.

As in the old saying that nothing in life comes easy, Pastor Adeboye reminded the congregation of the need for salvation. Referencing Psalms 103: 1-5, he said: “You need forgiveness to avoid hindrance to your prayer and praise. Forgiveness is available in Christ.”

He urged his audience to accept the calling of Jesus Christ, noting that failure to do so may mean God not answering “when you call”.

For those who are finding it difficult to praise God, he reminded them with references to the Bible the many ways they can do it: “Praising God with mouth… praising God with hands — lifting of hands, wave your hands to God.” He added that “clapping for Jesus means you will co-operate with him”.

Pastor Adeboye also said people can partake in “praising God with your legs, kneeling and dancing [and] praising God with your whole body, prostrating before God”.

He said there are many rewards of praising God, including the promise of “divine visitation, open doors” and the silencing of one’s enemies.

He added: “Praise God with your song and make a joyful noise to the Lord. For the rest of your life you will have something to sing about. Beginning from now, your dancing has just started.

“In the name that is above every other names, I decree that your request shall be granted before Sunday morning and the miracle shall be permanent. Your joy will never cease and your joy shall be multiplied. You will really have cause to praise His name, so shall it be, in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.”

He prayed for God to always give worshippers an opportunity to praise him by granting them their wishes.

“Forever Lord, let them have something to sing about. Thank You almighty God, in Jesus’ mighty name we have prayed,” Pastor Adeboye concluded.
