This simple dessert can be made any time of the year!
Speaking as an American, we take our donuts very seriously. This is the perfect recipe combining Irish and American flavours!
Ingredients:
For the donuts:
130g flour
45g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
120ml Guinness Extra Stout
1 egg
55g brown sugar
50g sugar
80ml melted butter
For the glaze:
130g caster sugar
2 tsp Bailey’s Irish Cream
2 tsp water
Preheat your oven to 170C. To make the donut dough, stir the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a large bowl till mixed well.
In a separate bowl, whisk the Guinness, egg, white sugar, brown sugar and butter, then fold the dry ingredients into the wet slowly.
Spray a donut pan with non-stick spray, then full each hole with the mixture about two-thirds full. Bake the tray in the oven for 12 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the glaze ingredients in another bowl and stir well.
When the donuts are ready, allow to cool before dipping them on one size in the glaze and placing on a wire rack to dry. Then serve any way you like!
