By Staff Reporter ‘Share the Experience’ is the theme of Active Retirement Ireland’s winter fundraising campaign encouraging retirees to get more involved in their local communities. The organisation, which has over 25,000 members nationwide, says it hopes to grow that number by 1,500 over the next year. “We believe that retirement is only the beginning, and getting involved with your local Active Retirement group is a great way to stay happy, healthy and connected,” said chief executive Maureen Kavanagh, who added that support is needed to deliver that message. The network’s corporate partners have been key supporters, said Kavanagh, and she was joined by representatives from two of them, Home Instead Senior Care and Hidden Hearing, at the campaign launch. “ARI are striving to enable older people to live life to the full and this should be supported,” said Home Instead managing director Karl Schutte. “We urge other organisations to get behind their fundraising drive this winter.” Hidden Hearing MD Dolores Madden added: “It is great to see a charity with a refreshingly positive approach to encouraging older people to live life to the full. We believe this empowers their members in practical and inspiring ways to lead full and active lives in retirement. “This approach mirrors our own philosophy at Hidden Hearing as we work to promote the positive benefits of looking after hearing health in order to enjoy a happy and healthy life post retirement.” For details on how to support ARI call 01 873 3836 or visit www.activeirl.ie.
