Irish folk group Kíla and UK Afro-fusion ensemble KOG & The Zongo Brigade are among the musical acts lined up for Africa Day celebrations in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on Sunday 21 May.
Children’s entertainment, traditional African drumming and dance workshops and cultural performances are also on the menu at Farmleigh for the Irish Aid’s annual flagship event.
Speaking at the launch this month, Minister of State for Development Joe McHugh said the day “is a great occasion for families and friends to celebrate African culture and the strong bonds that exist between Ireland and the continent of Africa.”
Africa Day, which is held every year on 25 May, is the official day of the African Union and celebrates African unity.
